Sona Devi seeks more government crèches including one at Vidhan Sabha

Sona Devi, a young legislator, adopted novel means to sensitise the State government to difficulties faced by working women with young children, when she came to the Vidhan Sabha carrying her infant.

The legislator from the National Unionist Zamindara Party from Raisinghnagar in Sriganganagar district was stopped from entering the Assembly as rules do not permit any ‘unauthorised’ individuals to enter. After some discussions, she agreed to leave the baby in the lounge meant for the Opposition in the care of her personal attendant while she attended the House.

“The idea was to draw the attention of the Vasundhara Raje government to the difficulties faced by working women when they are transferred to regions without creche facilities,” she told
