Property deals soar

July 20, 2014 11:30 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 08:03 pm IST - Vijaywada:

Even as the Andhra Pradesh government issued a GO constituting a nine-member advisory committee to examine different aspects of constructing capital city, mega property deals in the Vijayawada, Guntur, Tenali and Mangalagiri (VGTM) region totalling over Rs. 1,300 crore have been registered.

Among properties changing hands is a super specialty hospital near Mangalagiri. “The financials of the hospital are not healthy. The deal has been under discussion for a long time. Barring a formal announcement, the deal is almost done for a consideration of Rs. 300 crore,” said a chartered accountant on condition of anonymity.

A Vijayawada-based private company with interests in real estate, healthcare and logistics is said to have bought the hospital, according to sources. The company, however, said it would not comment on the development at present.

The region is also abuzz with news of a famous cricketer who is believed to have bought over 100 acres near Mangalagiri. It is to be noted that this transaction took place much before the unofficial freeze on registrations by the government a few days ago. In the light of Sachin Tendulkar’s scheduled visit to Vijayawada on August 1, the realty market is rife with rumours that the famous cricketer could be Sachin.
