PIA chips in with money

When a relief aircraft of Air India left for Pakistan, officials went through a long checklist of things it was supposed to carry, including equipment to repair the aircraft that was stranded in Sindh’s Nawabshah airport.

But there was one thing they forgot — cash for paying the turbine fuel Pakistan had agreed to give to the stranded plane. There were embarrassing moments at Nawabshah when the time came for paying up for the fuel. But in a magnanimous gesture, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) stepped in and made the payment. “We thought we will let you know about this Pakistani gesture which would have gone unnoticed,” said sources in the government here.
