India has taken up the suspension of cross-LoC trade and bus services at the diplomatic level by summoning the acting High Commissioner of Pakistan in New Delhi.
With no passenger crossing the LoC on Monday and no trade taking place on Tuesday, scores of travellers and truck drivers are stranded on either side.
Cross-LoC movement was stopped following the seizure of a narcotics consignment and the arrest of a PoK driver in Uri last week.

“We are awaiting the FSL [Forensic Science Laboratory] report and a detailed report from the Inspector General Police, Kashmir. Both are expected tomorrow. We will forward it to the Centre and request the Ministry of Home Affairs to take up the matter at a diplomatic level with the Pakistani authorities through the Ministry of External Affairs,” J&K Principal Secretary [Home] Suresh Kumar told The Hindu on Tuesday.
IGP Abdul Gani Mir said the FSL had “verbally” confirmed that the samples analysed at its Srinagar headquarters were brown sugar.
“The FSL is taking extra care in handling the tests as the Director General of Trade and Travel in the PoK Government, Brig. Ismail Khan, has been attempting to make the recovery seem doubtful,” an official source said.
