Pak. warns India against ‘misadventure’

June 11, 2015 03:09 am | Updated April 03, 2016 02:50 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Remarks made by Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore suggesting that the Army’s Myanmar operation was a “message” to other countries drew a sharp retort from Pakistan. Any ‘misadventure’ by India would get a fitting response, Pakistan Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar said, underlining that “Pakistan is not Myanmar.”

In a statement late on Wednesday night, the Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesperson said, “Pakistan is fully capable of defending its territorial integrity against any foreign aggression.”

In a sharp response, Pakistan Army Chief Raheel Sharif, who chaired the Formation Commanders’ Conference in Rawalpindi comprising top military commanders, took note of India’s “hostile rhetoric” and pledged to foil any “evil” designs on the country. A tweet posted by Pakistan Military spokesperson Asim Bajwa said Mr. Sharif “reiterated resolve to defeat their (India's) designs, defend Pakistan’s territorial integrity. None should dare to cast an evil eye on Pakistan.”
