One person died and seven were injured after a yellow powder-like substance was thrown from a suburban local train in Mumbai on passengers in a train travelling in the opposite direction.
All eight fell down from the overcrowded moving local after the coloured powder was thrown on the eve of Holi.
The incident that took place on late Monday evening in an Mumbai local that was travelling from Mumbai CST to Thane.

The substance that was thrown caused irritation as well as other symptoms of uneasiness leading which caused them to fall off, the Central Railways said.
Investigation on
“The officers are investigating the nature of the substance, sample of which has been collected from passengers’ clothes,” said an official.

Admitted to hospital
Two persons were admitted to the Bhabha Hospital, while the rest were taken to the Sion Hospital. Nityanand, 30, later succumbed to his injuries while Dipak, 30, and Srinivas, 31, are critical and have been kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Akhilesh Gupta, 24, Sushant Bhoir, 22 and Laxman Traimbke, 20, have also been admitted to the hospital and are currently undergoing treatment.
Appeal
Central Railways has appealed the to commuters to refrain from throwing objects such as stones, harmful substances at suburban trains as such acts can cause serious injuries.
