After the Congress, now the CPI(M) is demanding immediate ouster of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) K.V. Chowdary, questioning his role in advocating on behalf of former special CBI director Rakesh Asthana.
The decision to remove the CBI Director Alok Verma was arbitrary, the CPI(M) said in a statement here. And the decision was entirely based on the report prepared by the CVC, “which has since been shown to be weak on substantive proof about the allegations,” the CPI(M) said.
It said Mr. Asthana’s plea before the Delhi High Court to vacate ongoing investigations on allegations against him has been rejected and the court has directed that the enquiry be conducted within a time frame.

“Clearly, Rakesh Asthana has been found by the judiciary as facing prima facie charges,” the CPI(M) said.
Also Mr. Chowdary’s meeting with Mr. Verma to advocate Mr. Asthana’s case is questionable, the party said.
