Now, a single-window panel to facilitate film production

April 15, 2013 05:08 pm | Updated 05:13 pm IST - New Delhi

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) has set up an inter-ministerial committee for Promotion and Facilitation of Film Production in India.

This would serve as a ‘single-window’ clearance for film-makers who otherwise need to end up seeking permission from as many as 30 different agencies to shoot feature films, short films and television programmes.

The committee shall be chaired by the secretary of the I&B Ministry and include joint-secretary level officers from the Ministries of Home, Tourism, External Affairs, Culture, Railways, Civil Aviation and Defence.

In a statement, the Ministry said that the mandate of the committee will be two-fold. It will ‘facilitate granting of permissions for both foreign as well as domestic producers from relevant authorities of Central and State Governments’. It shall also meet regularly to ‘monitor’ the facilitation process and issue directions to authorities concerned.
