The External Affairs Ministry has issued an advisory to the Indian embassies in Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Dakar (Senegal), Abuja (Nigeria), Accra (Ghana) and Niamey (Niger) to ensure that passengers travelling to India from Ebola-affected countries or those who underwent treatment for the infection carry a certificate that their body fluids contain no evidence of the virus.
After an Indian from Liberia was found to be carrying the virus in his semen, the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry asked the External Affairs Ministry to issue the travel advisory.
On Friday, Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda informed the Lok Sabha that only those who had the certificate would be allowed to land in India.
