The Working Group for drafting the National Sports Development Bill clarified on Monday that there was no provision to keep the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) out of the ambit of the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
Interacting with journalists, chairman of the Working Group Justice Mukul Mudgal said the proposed Bill covered all sports federations. “The [draft] Bill is not about one particular sports federation. It covers all sports bodies, including that of cricket,” he said.
“RTI will be made applicable to all National Sports Federations (NSFs) once it [the draft] becomes a Bill. RTI will cover everything and no exception has been made for BCCI,” he said.

However, there were certain areas where RTI would not be applicable. “RTI will not include team selection, fitness or injury details and contract details [with players],” Justice Mudgal said.
Justice Mudgal said that when charges were framed against a person and criminal proceedings initiated, they would not be eligible to contest elections in NSF elections.
