No proposal to take back Yeddyurappa, says BJP

The BJP leadership on Thursday made it clear that there was no proposal to take back the former Karnataka Chief Minister, B.S. Yeddyurappa into the party fold.

A delegation of State BJP leaders met party chief Rajnath Singh in the day and urged him to initiate the process of bringing the Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP) chief into the BJP.

Lok Sabha member and BJP general secretary in-charge of Karnataka Thawarchand Gehlot, however, told

The Hindu there was no proposal with the leadership to extend an invitation to Mr. Yeddyurappa to come back. “I have no information in this regard. If some leaders of the State unit are taking initiative in this regard it is their own attempt. The BJP high command has nothing to do with this.”

KJP campaign committee president and former Union Minister V. Dhananjay Kumar said his party had made it clear that if an official communication inviting Mr. Yeddyuraapa to rejoin the BJP was received, the KJP would consider it. “We, on our own, will not seek re-entry into the BJP. We have no such proposal.”

The delegation wanted Mr. Yeddyurappa’s return to avoid a split in the anti-Congress votes because of which the BJP lost power in the State early this year.
