No need to carry train e-ticket prints

October 18, 2011 11:36 pm | Updated November 17, 2021 12:53 am IST - NEW DELHI:

No more do you have to carry your ticket to travel in the reserved compartment of a train — provided you have booked your ticket online.

With immediate effect, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) is doing away with the need to carry a printed copy of the e-ticket for its 3.5 lakh passengers who book their tickets electronically.

All that you have to show is the SMS you have received as acknowledgement of purchase of a ticket from the IRCTC on your mobile phone to the ticket examiner on the train.

In case one is carrying a laptop, showing the e-mailed ticket will be sufficient proof.
