No comments, says CBI chief

CBI Director Ranjit Sinha on Wednesday maintained silence on reports that the agency previously planned to seek clarifications from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on alleged irregularities in coal blocks allocation during 2006-09 when he held additional charge of the Coal Ministry.

“I cannot rule out or confirm … I do not want to make any comments in this regard,” Mr. Sinha told journalists here. He was answering a query on a report suggesting that the probe team had proposed examining Dr. Singh in the case, but a decision by the brass was kept in abeyance.
