Nitish thanks PM for calling him secular

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday thanked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for calling him ‘secular.’

He said he felt a deep sense of satisfaction from the praise.

“What Dr. Singh said has brought me a lot of satisfaction. I thank him for speaking the truth. The PM only spoke of what I am,” Mr. Kumar said.

Non-commital on Congress support

He remained non-committal on the Congress’ support for him during the vote of confidence scheduled for Wednesday. State Congress chief Ashok Choudhary met party president Sonia Gandhi in Delhi to apprise her of the political situation in Bihar and about the floor test.

Mr. Choudhary said Ms. Gandhi would be conveying her decision on the strategy in the House on Wednesday.
