Militant killed in encounter in Bishnupur

A militant was killed in an encounter with Assam Rifles personnel in Bishnupur district on Saturday.

Personnel of 33th Assam Rifles were conducting a search operation at the Thanga Lawai area in Bishnupur district when some suspected militants opened fire at them, official sources said.

The Assam Rifles personnel retaliated and in the ensuing encounter, a militant was killed on the spot, they said.

A 9mm pistol with two live rounds was seized from the deceased militant, whose body has been sent to the Regional Instituted of Medical Sciences hospital for post-mortem.
