The CBI has filed a case against unidentified External Affairs Ministry officials for allegedly issuing passports to 12 persons showing them as Arunachal Pradesh government officials, to facilitate their travel to the United States.

According to the CBI, the beneficiaries conspired with the officials to get the passports issued between December 2016 and March 2017. Those named in the FIR are Raja Kipa, Thupten, Kalden Kunseng and Lucky. Forged documents were used to issue the passports.

“A similar group of 10 applicants, claiming to be Arunachal government officials, were earlier issued visas and they travelled to the U.S. last year,” the official said.
