Days after party president Amit Shah emphasised that the next government in Maharashtra would be formed under BJP leadership, senior party leader Vinod Tawde said the formula for the Chief Minister’s post was still to be finalised.
He said the allies could choose between several options. “The party with the largest number of MLAs could get the post. Or both parties could share the post for two-and-a-half years. Or one party could keep the Chief Minister’s post and the other could get the more significant Cabinet portfolios,” Mr. Tawde said.
The Shiv Sena hit back with party MP Sanjay Raut saying: “State leaders can say what they like but finally these issues will be decided by the national leadership. I think Mr. Shah meant that the next government in Maharashtra will be formed by the saffron alliance, not the BJP alone,” he said.
