The Lok Sabha was adjourned soon after noon on Friday after repeated protests by AIADMK, TDP and Congress members.
It will remain closed from December 24 to 26 for Christmas. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan announced that the House would meet again on December 27 at 11 am.
Earlier, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal told the House that many members had requested that there be no proceedings from December 24 to 26 on account of the Christmas festival.

The proceedings were obstructed soon after the House assembled at 11 am and the Question Hour was drowned in slogans. The Speaker adjourned the House till noon. However, Zero Hour beginning at noon was also disrupted by slogan-shouting and the Speaker once again adjourned it soon after papers were laid on the table of the House.
The Congress has been protesting against the rejection of its demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Rafale deal and the BJP members have been raising slogans against Congress president Rahul Gandhi in return. The TDP has been protesting for special category status for Andhra Pradesh. The AIADMK members have been on their feet against Karnataka’s decision to build a dam across the Cauvery river. Tamil Nadu members claim that this will block the flow of water to farmers in their State.
