The Congress on Tuesday demanded a high-level probe into business dealings of the firm owned by Jay Shah, son of BJP president Amit Shah, by two sitting Supreme Court judges.
“To conduct an independent and credible investigation, a commission comprising two senior Supreme Court judges should be appointed to submit a report within a time frame,” said Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala.
He alleged that the business of Temple Enterprise Private Ltd., the firm owned by Mr. Jay Shah, had increased 16,000 times in one year. “What is this magic wand by which the company earned a surplus of merely ₹18.8 lakh in 10 years from 2004-14 and made a loss in two successive years (2012-2014), and then proceeded to increase its turnover 16,000 times within a year of formation of the BJP government?” he asked. “Will Mr. Modi stand on the side of friendship and party politics or will he stand with truth, accountability and morality? The entire country is watching.”

He reminded Mr. Amit Shah that previous BJP presidents L.K. Advani, Bangaru Laxman and Nitin Gadkari had resigned when allegations surfaced against them. Questioning the silence of the PM and the BJP chief, he asked: “Will Mr. Modi and Mr. Amit Shah not break their silence?.”
