Killer buffalo gunned down in north Tripura

Police shot dead a rampaging buffalo after it killed a man and injured several in Kurti area of north Tripura district. The action was necessary for public safety, a district police official said.

Panic gripped earlier in the Kurti market and adjoining areas after the buffalo went berserk attacking people and damaging shops since Thursday. Several persons were injured, a few seriously, in the attacks. 

One of injured, Fazaluddin, 35, later died in a hospital. Forest and police personnel rushed to the spot and caught hold of it. 

The animal turned aggressive after an irate mob threw stones on it and injured its horns.
