As political parties are working over time to woo electorates by launching hectic campaigning braving sultry weather, a group of rival party activists are said to be indulging in witchcraft at Pallikkare grama panchayat to spoil the chances of the rival candidate.

According to a complaint lodged with the Bekal police, unidentified persons under the cover of darkness placed egg, turmeric powder and mustard in a cloth on the verandah of IUML nominee Shekkila Basheer’s residence at Haddad Nagar.

On spotting the ominous substances, the visibly scared IUML ward committee member went straight to the police station to lodge a complaint on Wednesday pointing accusing finger against the rival Indian National League (INL) loyalists.

The police complaint said that the IUML nominee used to get frequent threatening calls from anonymous persons to withdraw her nomination from the ward.

The Bekal police said here that they have begun an investigation into the allegations.
