Water level in Idukki dam at 2,348.8 ft

Catchment area receives good rainfall

Though a dry spell was mostly prevailing in the district, the catchment area of Idukki dam was receiving good rainfall, recording 68 mm on Monday. The water level in the dam on Monday was 2,348.82 ft which is 44 percent of the total reservoir level. An official at the Dam Monitoring and Research Station, Vazhathoppe, on Monday said that the water level was on an increasing trend though the level of increase had fallen half after the start of the monsoon.

The power generation level at the Moolamattom Power House was remaining at a low of 3.785 mu. and there was a decline in the inflow through the Periyar and other tributaries.
