VS debunks RSS role in freedom struggle

May 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 08:09 am IST - PATHANAMTHITTA:

Coming down heavily on the Sangh Parivar, Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan has alleged that the contribution of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in India’s freedom struggle was a big zero.

Mr. Achuthanandan was addressing a public meeting organised by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] in protest against the attack on party sympathiser and Taluk Library Council member Ajeesh, allegedly by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and RSS activists, at Elavumthitta on Wednesday.

The CPI(M) leader alleged the National Democratic Alliance government led by Narendra Modi was in a fool’s paradise to think that it could always remain in power by supporting the corporate lobby. Mr. Achuthanandan said that the BJP government was bent on privatising all public sector units.

The Opposition Leader alleged that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy was making all efforts to be in the good books of Mr Modi and the BJP.

Mr. Achuthanandan was accorded a rousing reception on his arrival at the meeting venue. K.C. Rajagopalan, CITU district president and former MLA, presided the meeting. A.P. Udayabhanu, CPI(M) district secretary; K. Ananthagopan, former district secretary; R. Sanalkumar, R. Ajyakumar, A. Padmakumar, T.K.G. Nair, Babu Koikalethu, and T.V.Stalin, CPI(M) district leaders, also spoke.
