UPA Governors should quit, says Pandalam Sudhakaran

June 23, 2014 10:46 am | Updated 10:46 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

Causing embarrassment to the party leadership, Congress leader and former minister Pandalam Sudhakaran has called for the resignation of the Governors appointed by the previous UPA regime, terming it as an ideal course considering the traditions of the Congress.

Making particular reference in a Facebook comment to Maharashtra Governor K. Sankaranarayanan and Mizoram Governor Vakkom Purushothaman, he said they were ‘stalwarts’ whose experiences would be of use to the party in its hour of crisis.

“As for those Governors who have been appointed by the UPA, to resign or not is a big question.... I feel that it could be in keeping with the unparalleled tradition and status of the Congress to forgo these political appointments,” Mr. Sudhakaran said.
