Tribals lay siege to forest office

: Adivasis of Elikode colony at Varantarappilly on Thursday laid siege to Palappilly Forest Range Office demanding repair of the road to their colony.

Around 20 Adivasis of colony reached the office and threatened to commit suicide if the authorities did not take immediate steps to repair the road to Elikode colony.

Adivasi leader Mukundan had threatened to commit suicide in front of the District Collector last Sunday raising the same demand.

The tribespeople complained that the district authority and Forest Department officials were not taking any steps to repair the road even after funds for that purpose had been allotted.
