Craftsmanship of pottery artisans from Nilambur in Malappuram district is on display at an exhibition here that showcases over 150 terracotta products ranging from kitchenware to murals that blend utility and aesthetics. The highlight of the exhibition being conducted by the Nilambur-based Anaswara Self-Help Group is terracotta kitchenware that can be used in microwave oven.

The product range being exhibited at the Bharat Scouts and Guides Building here from July 31 include terracotta pottery such as pots, mugs, jugs, cups, small caskets, candle stands, pen holders, traditional lamps, idols, and landscaping products.

Murals made of terracotta are have drawn considerable praise. “The products being displayed for sale here are the works of 50 families belonging to the Kumbhara community of terracotta artisans at Nilambur,” SHG secretary M. Vijayakumari said at the exhibition venue. She said the products were given natural finish without using any chemical. This was for the first time the group had come to Kannur to showcase its products.
