With the aim of making farmers familiar with the latest technology so as to improve farm production and promote cost-effective cultivation, Technology Week - 2018 began at the Poopoli ground at Ambalavayal in the district on Friday.
Inaugurating the programme, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development K. Raju said that farm research should focus on overcoming issues, especially climate and crop diseases related issues, being faced by farmers in the State and ensure that the findings reached the ryots.
“Efforts have to be taken to conserve the indigenous cattle breeds of the State like Vechoor cow, especially in the era of climate change,” Mr. Raju said, adding that the scientists had to pay attention to make necessary modification on the breeding policy to attain self-sufficiency in milk production.

The five-day programme is being organised jointly by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ambalavayal, and the Agriculture Technology Management Agency in association with the Regional Agriculture Research Station, Ambalavayal, as a part of the Poopoli international flori-fest and exhibition being organised by the Kerala Agricultural Universityat its Regional Agriculture Research Station.
