Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president V.M. Sudheeran has pushed for a comprehensive revamp of the party machinery in the State ahead of the local body elections next year, in contrast to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who has indicated that he might go in for a Cabinet reshuffle.
Mr. Sudheeran appears to be on a fast track since he has already called for a meeting of all District Congress Committee presidents on Wednesday to discuss the methodology of the revamp process.
Mr. Sudheeran made his intentions clear after holding discussions with the Congress high command on the reconstitution of party committees.

Even though Mr. Sudheeran has taken a position against factional mobilisation, he appears to be reconciled to the fact that he might not be able to raise the bar.
Factionalism Mr. Chandy’s moves have already revived factionalism, which might gather steam in the coming days as the party leadership takes the plunge on the revamp process.
