Former Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president V M Sudheeran has taken a different stance in the abduction and sexual assault case involving a female actor that subsequently led to the arrest of actor Dilip.
Unlike his other Congress colleagues, Mr. Sudheeran was all praise for the Kerala Police, appreciating the investigating team’s work. He had earlier expressed the opinion that the case was a test for the Kerala police.
“It is gratifying to see that the police successfully passed the test. The popular sentiments prepared the ground for the police to function independently. The role of the media was crucial and commendable,” he said in a FaceBook post on Tuesday.

He was all praise for Congress legislator P.T. Thomas who had persistently followed up the case to ensure a fair probe. But in the case of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Mr. Sudheeran did not take a harsh stand like some of his other Congress colleagues, including KPCC president M.M. Hassan.
“The Chief Minister, who had expressed a prejudiced view that there was no conspiracy in the case, must have learnt a lesson from this case – let the police do their job freely and not to expressed prejudiced opinions under whatever circumstances or pressure,” Mr. Sudheeran said.
Mr. Hassan and Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala had gone to the extent of putting the blame on Mr. Vijayan for diverting the course of investigation and even wanted him to own up for this and give up the Home portfolio.
