Student drowned in Idukki dam

The body of a person, who was missing in the Idukki dam since Saturday evening, was fished out from the Narakakkanam area on Sunday morning.

Anoop (20) of Powathil House, Thankamany near here accidentally slipped-in to the deep portion while speaking on his mobile phone, said the Idukki police.

He was a leader of the Students Federation of India at the Government College, Kattappana. He was visiting the dam area along with his friends when the accident occurred.

His friends informed the local people and police about the accident. The Fire and Rescue Services reached the spot and conducted search operations. However, the body was recovered on Sunday.
