When the ‘Walk of Hope’, the Kanyakumari to Kashmir padayatra led by spiritual leader Sri M, reached the city, there was someone special to receive it: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
Welcoming Sri M and other padayatris at Nemom around 7.30 a.m. and walking with them for some distance, the Chief Minister said the message of peace and harmony that the padayatra sought to propagate had great relevance now.

This is a huge responsibility and sacrifice undertaken by Sri M, wherein he is directly meeting people along the way and earning their love and support for peace, amity and mutual trust, said the Chief Minister.
Thanking the Chief Minister for his gesture, Sri M said the Walk is not about him but a major initiative of the Manav Ekta Mission for bringing about peace and harmony. People, irrespective of caste, creed and religion, are excited to see the initiative that talks about the oneness of humanity.

Given the enthusiasm shown by the people from different castes and creeds, he was sure that the hope with which the padayatra has been launched would be fulfilled, the spiritual leader said.
Quoting the Rig Veda, which says “Ekam Sat, Viprah Bahudha Vadanti” (There is only one truth, sages describe it in different ways) and the Bible where it is said “Lay treasures in your heart, for no thief can steal it. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God”, Sri M said religion is one’s personal experience and the message of all religions is that it is important to live one’s life without harming anyone.
The ‘Walk of Hope’ was flagged off on January 12 at Kanyakumari by Karan Singh.
It will cover 86 districts in 11 States on its way to Kashmir.
