A special session of the Kerala Assembly is set to be held on June 8 to discuss the implications of the notification issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change that bans sale of cattle for slaughter at animal markets.

The State Cabinet took the decision to hold the special session of the Assembly a short while ago. The Cabinet had, on Thursday, decided to explore various possibilities to counter Centre’s move, including convening of a special session of the House.

The State government is also planning to approach the courts and explore the possibility of holding a meeting of Chief Ministers to discuss the implications of the MoEF notification.
