Congress president Sonia Gandhi is said to have assured a delegation of the Kerala Muslim Yuvajana Federation (KMYF) from Kollam that she will take up the issue of providing justice to People’s Democratic Party (PDP) founder Abdul Nasir Maudany, who is lodged in a Bangalore jail in connection with a serial blasts case in the city.

The KMYF delegation, led by its vice-president K.P. Muhammed Thoufeek Moulavi and general secretary Kadakkal Junaid, met her here recently along with P.C. Chacko, MP, and gave a memorandum seeking her intervention to ensure justice and human rights to Mr. Maudany. A KMYF press release said the team brought to Ms. Gandhi’s notice that the Muslim leader had not been provided medical treatment as directed by the Supreme Court. Instead he was taken back to jail.
