Sexual abuse case handed over to CB

October 12, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:53 am IST - KASARAGOD:

A case relating to sexual abuse of a minor speech-impaired girl has been handed over to the Crime Branch (CB) following complaint of laxity on the part of the local police in investigating the crime.

Superintendent of Police A. Srinivas said on Sunday that the case, which was being investigated by the Kumbla police, would now be investigated by Crime Detachment Dy.SP Premaraj.

The incident occurred on September 22. A neighbour allegedly assaulted her after tying her up when she was alone at her house.

Even though her family had lodged a complaint with the local police, the officials concerned alleged to have gone slow in the investigation. The girl was subjected to medical examination only after the locals exerted pressure on the police. It was medically confirmed that the girl had been subjected to sexual assault. However, the local police could not make any breakthrough in the case.
