The Shiv Sena will field its own candidate in the Malappuram Lok Sabha byelection.
K. Shajimon would be the Sena candidate, said Hindu Samaj Mandal State chairman Narukara Gopi here on Wednesday.
Describing the BJP as a “wholesale warehouse of votes for rent,” Sena leaders said they would expose the hollowness of the BJP in the April 12 byelection.

The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has decided not to contest in the byelection. SDPI State president Abdul Majeed Faizi said here on Wednesday that his party would declare its election policy later.
He said the byelection would not make any impact either in the national politics or in the State politics. “The apathetic attitude displayed by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in its candidate selection reflected this fact,” he said.
But the challenge facing nationalism and secular constitution could not be viewed lightly, he said, warning the LDF and UDF that the Sangh Parivar would benefit from their clash.
