CPI(M) State unit secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has said that the release of Saritha S. Nair, prime accused in the solar panel scam, on bail is a pre-planned screenplay of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
Addressing presspersons here during his Kerala Raksha Yatra on Saturday, Mr. Vijayan alleged that a conspiracy had taken place at the office of the Chief Minister before the scam had taken place, but the police did not charge sections of conspiracy against the accused.
The police had made such an attempt as per the direction of the government to cover the alleged involvement of the Chief Minister in the issue, he alleged.

Three-year United Democratic Front (UDF) regime had put the life of tribal people and farming community in the district in peril, Mr. Vijayan said. All the welfare measures initiated by the previous Left Democratic Front (LDF) government for tribal people had been sabotaged under the UDF regime.
‘‘Getting land is the right of the tribal people and not generosity of anyone,’’ Mr. Vijayan said.

He said the LDF government had launched a project to provide land to the 30,000 landless tribal people, but the UDF Ministry torpedoed the project when they came to power. The A.K. Antony-led government had promised that they would provide one to five acres of land to each landless tribal family, but now the Oommen Chandy government was trying to provide Rs.10 lakh to each tribal family to purchase land.
He said such a move would have adverse effects on them. Providing land to them was the responsibility of the government, he said.
The UDF government had offered to execute a package of Rs.2,154 crore in the district for the farming community, but it was yet to be executed. Nearly 40 farmers had committed suicide owing to financial crisis, he said.
Though farmers were facing revenue recovery measures after a moratorium announced by the government on agriculture loans for a period of one year, the government was yet to take any positive measures to meet the crisis, Mr. Vijayan said. The Yatra was given receptions at Vythiri, Kalpetta, Sulthan Bathery, and Mananthavady.
Kasturirangan reportMr. Vijayan asked the government to clarify its stance on the implementation of the Kasturirangan report before the declaration of Parliament elections.
He was addressing a public meeting during a reception to the Yatra in Kalpetta. The LDF had clarified its stance on the issue and Kerala Congress (M) leader K.M. Mani had also sought rejection of the report. If Mr. Mani was sincere, he should put pressure on the government to withdraw the report before the polls, Mr. Vijayan said.
A third front government would come to power at the Centre as public opinion was against the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party. The CBI probe in the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case was against the law. A letter written by Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan regarding the issue was against the stance of the party, he said.
