Saritha remanded till August 26

The accused was brought to the court amid tight police security.

One of the accused in the solar scam Saritha S. Nair was remanded in police custody till August 26 by the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court here in a cheating case filed by a group of medical practitioners.

A bail application moved by the accused will be considered by the court on the same day. The case was filed by K.C. Shyam Mohan, ENT surgeon at Indira Gandhi Cooperative Hospital here. Eight more medical practitioners had impleaded as a party in the case.

The accused was alleged to have defrauded Rs.1 lakh each from the complainants after promising to install solar panels in their houses.

Money was extracted from one person promising share in a windmill farm.

A portion of the money had been returned to some of the complainants.

A total of 18 medical practitioners from Thalassery and Kannur were defrauded in the case.

A large crowd had assembled on the court premises from forenoon. The accused was brought to the court amid tight police security.
