RSP entry into UDF pre-planned: Pinarayi

CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday said the revelation by Congress leader N. Peethamabara Kurup, who represented Kollam in the 15 Lok Sabha, that he was informed by top Congress leaders three weeks ago about the decision to keep him out of the fray this time to allocate the seat to Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) has vindicated the LDF stand that RSP left its fold following a larger conspiracy that began long before the announcement of the election schedule.

Taking part in a meet-the-press programme of the Ernakulam Press Club, Mr. Vijayan alleged that the exit of the RSP from the LDF fold and its decision to contest in Kollam under the UDF were part of a larger conspiracy hatched long ago by the Congress leaders in the State with the active involvement of RSP national secretary T. J. Chandrachoodan.

Special Correspondent writes from Thiruvananthapuram: Mr. Kurup has denied media reports quoting him as having said that he had prior knowledge about the RSP’s decision. In a statement, Mr. Kurup said the media had distorted his observations. The persons behind the campaign were the very same persons who had tried to defame him.
