Tourism Minister A.P. Anil Kumar has announced tourism projects to the tune of Rs.8 crore for Konni, which has “immense ecotourism potential.”
The Minister was launching the ‘Explore Pathanamthitta’ tourism promotion programme of the District Tourism Promotion Council at a meeting at the collectorate conference hall here on Thursday afternoon.
He said Pathanamthitta would be given special care in various tourism promotion programmes of the Tourism Department.

Mr. Anilkumar said the Tourism Department would seriously consider the DTPC’s demand for a special vehicle for operating its daily conducted tour to Gavi from Pathanamthitta. He said the government’s aim was to take the benefits of tourism to the common people.
Film on tourism
Releasing a short film on tourism, Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash said Pathanamthitta should acquire a prominent slot on the national and global tourism map. He stressed the need to promote ecotourism in the hill tracts, adding that provision of proper tourism infrastructure was a must to achieve this.

Mr. Prakash said the Kuttalam-Achencoil-Chittar-Thannithode-Thekkady-Kodaikkanal Hill Highway to be opened soon would give a big boost to ecotourism in the district, besides helping the overall development of the hill tracts.
K. Sivadasan Nair, MLA, called for exploiting the tourism potential of the district to the maximum. Anto Antony, MP; S. Harikishore, District Collector; A.
