Two suffer burns in lightning at Badiadukka, 10 houses damaged

Widespread damage to property and standing crop was reported in the summer rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning that lashed the district on Tuesday.

Several houses and electronic equipment were damaged in strong lightning at Badiadukka, where two persons, including a housewife, suffered burns in the lightning late in the evening.

A car parked on the Mulleria-Jalsoor road was damaged when a tree fell on it.

An uprooted coconut tree fell on the house of Haneeefa at Bangarakunnu locality here.

Electronic and electrical equipment at the house of Anasar of Uppala burnt in the heavy lightning.

Similar damages were reported from Koipady beach of Kumbla where three coconut trees were damaged in the lightning.

A firm dealing with power batteries also suffered damage.

A portion of the shopping complex attached to the municipal bus station at Kanhangad caved in after its walls developed cracks in the heavy rain.

An animal death was reported from Bandiyod.

As many as 10 houses were damaged at the Hosabettu beach locality, near Manjeshwaram.

However, official sources said that they were yet to get the complete data of damages.

The sky remained by and large overcast till Wednesday evening.
