Rahul to address women’s meet in Kochi

The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee is organising a convention of its booth presidents and women vice presidents in Kochi on January 29 in an attempt to bring more women to the forefront of party leadership.

AICC president Rahul Gandhi will inaugurate the convention, KPCC president Mullapally Ramachandran said at a press conference here on Friday.

He said the convention would bring over 25,000 women to the forefront of leadership and empowerment.

Mr. Gandhi would arrive in Kochi in the forenoon of January 29. He was expected to visit the late M.I. Shanavas’s residence . He may also meet the leaders of UDF constituents.

Mr. Ramachandran also announced that he would embark on a yatra, titled Janamaha Yatra, on February 1 from Kasaragod to highlight the anti-people rule of the BJP-led Centre and the LDF-ruled Sate.

The yatra would conclude on February 28 in Thiruvananthapuram. Congress Chief Ministers and other senior national leaders would participate in the flag-off function of his yatra.

He was confident that his yatra would prepare the Congress in Kerala to face the Lok Sabha elections with discipline and unity.
