The Infosys Science Foundation (ISF) is planning a major outreach programme covering schools to create awareness about basic sciences among children and enthuse them to take to science research. President of the foundation S.D. Shibulal said the ISF would join hands with schools and other organisations to reach out to children in a big way. He was addressing the media after an interactive session for students, teachers, and researchers from universities here on Friday.

Titled celebrating the sciences, the event was organised by the ISF to motivate young minds to take up a career in pure and social sciences.

“The Indian education system does not foster research at the grassroots level. As a result, only one per cent of the students in the country turn to research,” Mr. Shibulal said.
