The Public Service Commission has tentatively decided to introduce one-time registration system for job-seekers from January next year, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said.
Replying to questions in the Assembly on Friday, Mr. Chandy said that on introducing the system, candidates will have to upload their picture and other details only once and it will be stored in the commission database. As many as 77, 68, 422 applications submitted for various posts in 1,023 categories were pending at the commission.
The Centre had informed the State that certain terrorist outfits were likely to extend their activities to the State. The government has enforced a ban only on Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). While probing the cases involving SIMI activists, it was found that they had got foreign aid. The government had got 43 complaints about ragging in campuses in 2010 and 31 cases have been registered, he said.

Minister for Excise and Ports K. Babu said that the department was planning to set up a crime branch for probing major cases and also a crime records bureau for collating the data of the accused in various cases.
The Excise Academy in Thrissur will start functioning this year. The outlets of Kerala State Beverages Corporation, which are located at the busy stretches in cities, were causing traffic jam and accidents. The outlets will be shifted to less crowded areas. The outlets before star hotels will not be relocated, he said.
