Promote similarities among faiths: Mar Chrysostum

Philipose Mar Chrysostum, Metropolitan Emeritus of the Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malabar, inaugurating the State conference of the National Council for Communal Harmony at Thiruvalla on Monday.

Finding common grounds in different religions, faith, cultures, rituals, etc., and promoting them is the duty of every human being, Philipose Mar Chrysostum, Metropolitan Emeritus of the Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malabar, has said.

Mar Chrysostum was inaugurating the State conference of the National Council for Communal Harmony at Thiruvalla on Monday.

Mutual trust

The 98-year-old Metropolitan Emeritus said the society could progress and proceed only through mutual trust and cooperation.

He said ignorance of man on the very philosophy of life was the root cause of all sorts of chaos in the modern world.

All religions teach the same philosophy of love, duty, and compassion in different forms, he said.

Swami Gururatnam Jnana Tapaswi, organising secretary of the Santhigiri Ashram at Pothencode, presided over the conference.

The Knanayana Archbishop, Kuriakose Mar Savarios; Swami Nirvanananda, president of the Sri Ramakrishna Ashram in Thiruvalla; Geevarghese Mar Coorilos, Metropolitan of the Niranom diocese of the Jacobite Syrian Church; and E.A. Basheer Farooqi, Juma-at-e-Islami Pathanamthitta district president also spoke.
