Probe on track, says Chennithala

Says no lead yet on VS's role in memorial attack case.

: Minister for Home Ramesh Chennithala said here on Tuesday that the Crime Branch (CB) investigation into the attack on the P.Krishna Pillai memorial in Alappuzha had not yielded any information about the involvement of Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan.

Addressing the media after launching a mobile application to improve the public's access to him, he said the probe was on track and yet to reach a conclusion.

Answering questions from the media, he said a general security alert had been issued in Kerala in the wake of the Bangalore blast. Asked whether the investigation into the explosion had been extended to Kerala, Mr. Chennithala said he was not in a position to reveal anything at this stage. He, however, added that there was no cause for concern in the State.

Launching the mobile application, the Minister said it would have a host of features to collect feedback from the public and provide information on matters pertaining to the police, including the phone numbers of key officials.

The Android application will have the facility for the public to report corruption to the Minister and an idea box for citizens to submit suggestions on various policies and programmes of the department such as Operation Kubera, Safe Campus Clean Campus, and Nirbhaya. It will also carry information on the Minister's daily schedule and enable citizens to fix appointments with him. Another feature is an opinion poll on various policies and programmes of the department.

Mr. Chennithala said the idea behind the initiative was to bridge the gap between the Minister and the people and get to know the pulse of the public on key issues.
