THRISSUR: An emergency all-party meeting called by Minister for Industries A.C. Moideen in the backdrop of the rise in fever cases in the district, decided to strengthen preventive measures against communicable diseases.
Accordingly, a cleanliness drive will be undertaken in the district on June 27, 28, and 29 under the guidance of MLAs, workers’ unions, and political parties. While MLAs will lead the drive in each Assembly constituency, ward members will lead the ward-level cleanliness drive. Panchayat presidents and secretaries will submit a report on preventive measures to district officials.
Meanwhile, 37 suspected dengue cases were reported in the district on Saturday. Of them, 12 were confirmed dengue cases. Dengue cases were reported form Desamangalam, Nattika, Mullurkkara, Chovvannur, Paralam, Ollur, Kodakara, Valappad, Elanad, Chamakkala, and Choondal. One leptospirosis case and a typhoid case were also reported.

Henceforth, waste generated by hotels cannot dumped at public places, and Public Jagratha Samitis will keep vigil on such activities.
Educational institutions and students will be part of the sanitation mission. Kudumbasree Mission, clubs, and voluntary organisations have also been urged to co-operate with the drive.
The Minister urged doctors and nurses at government hospitals to work extra hours in view of the gravity of the situation. The government is considering granting incentives for overtime work, Mr. Moideen said.

The District Development Committee demanded stringent action against those who pollute waterbodies. In a resolution, K.V. Abdulkhader, MLA, called upon the police to keep vigil on pollution of water sources.
