Political parties should not intervene in investigation: BJP

May 05, 2012 06:26 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 10:47 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

BJP State president V. Muraleedharan on Saturday demanded that political parties should desist from making political capital out of the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party leader T. P. Chandrasekharan and should not intervene in the investigations.

Addressing a press conference here, the State president said that the Congress appeared to be keen on making political capital out of the murder rather than expressing protest over the murder in its statements. The case including the conspiracy behind it should be detected without allowing for political intervention. Ministers and KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala had been seen holding in camera discussions with investigating officers, he criticised.

Strongly deploring the murder, Mr. Muraleedhran said that the BJP was observing hartal in Kozhikode district in protest. Though the UDF observed State-wide hartal, the Muslim League had not joined it. It went ahead with its party function in Malappuram.

He said that considering past incidents, the local people doubted that the CPI (M) was behind the murder. The party and its workers had been attacking RMP leaders for quite some time now. Mr. Chandrasekharan himself had identified where they had come from and informed the Union Minister of State Mullappally Ramachandran and the Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. However, the government had failed to provide security to Mr. Chandrasekharan. “Why did the Chief Minister ignore the complaint from the RMP leader?” he asked.

Mr. Ramachandran had also done nothing though Onchiyam was within his constituency, he added.
