July 30, 2017 07:55 pm | Updated 07:55 pm IST - Kochi

Preliminary probe suggests there was indeed body doubling

The police team probing the case against filmmaker Jean Paul Lal and three others is approaching the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) seeking the copy of Honey Bee , which was submitted for certification.

The step comes in the wake of a preliminary investigation that suggested that the filmmaker indeed resorted to body doubling in his film using another woman. “The instance of body doubling, as alleged by the complainant, has come to our notice while verifying the censored copy. We now have to examine the copy sent for certification to confirm this”, said P.P. Shams, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Thrikkakara.

Upon completing the verification, the police will collect statements of the young filmmaker and his co-accused.

The police have already collected statements of the complainant and another person who worked as a makeup man for the movie. “The investigations so far have revealed that the complainant picked up some issues with the filmmaker at the shooting location. We, however, are yet to ascertain how far it contributed to the current case,” the ACP added.

A police team is slated to visit the resort at Kumbalam, where the alleged incident took place, for collecting evidence.
