Police asked to probe charges against Shalu

July 05, 2013 02:33 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 08:56 pm IST - THRISSUR:

The Judicial First Class Magistrate Court here on Thursday directed the Thrissur Town East police to register a first information report (FIR) and investigate the charges against actor Shalu Menon, allegedly an accomplice in the solar scam.

The directive was issued on the basis of a petition filed by P.D. Joseph.

The petition stated that the actor had met Biju Radhakrishnan, an accused in the solar fraud case, at a hotel on Kuruppam Road in Thrissur early last month.

‘‘When she met Radhakrishnan, [Shalu] Menon knew that Saritha [S] Nair, another accused in the case, was nabbed by the police. The actor also knew that Radhakrishnan was wanted by the police. Still, she helped him. But the police have not arrested her and investigated the allegations against her even after Radhakrishnan was nabbed,’’ the petition said.

The petitioner demanded that Shalu Menon be booked for cheating, conspiracy, and impersonation.

The petition alleged that the actor had used her ties with the powers-that-be to help Radhakrishnan.

‘‘There have been complaints that she, along with Radhakrishnan, had defrauded people of lakhs,’’ the petition said.
