The condition of the Chief Minister Oomen Chandy, who was admitted to Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram after being injured in stone-pelting at Kannur, is stable.
All his scheduled programmes for three days, including mass contact programme at Kollam on Tuesday, stands cancelled as doctors have advised him rest. The mass contact programme will now be held on October 31.
Governor Nikhil Kumar, opposition leader V.S. Achuthanandan, several Ministers including Aryadan Mohammed, K.C. Joseph and other dignitaries visited him at the hospital.

The police have taken more than 20 persons into custody in connection with the attack on the Chief Minister. Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has called a conference of higher officials to discuss the developments including strengthening of security for the Chief Minister. Mr. Chandy suffered injuries on the face and chest in Sunday’s attack.
Two CPI(M) MLAs charged with attempted murder

Two Communist Party of India (Marxist) MLAs, K.K. Narayanan and C. Krishnan have been charged with attempt to murder in the case of the attack on Chief Minister Oommen Chandy here on Sunday.
The police moved swiftly to nab those involved in the stoning of the Chief Minister's convoy while he was proceeding to attend the closing ceremony of the State police athletic meet here. As many as 22 CPI (M)) and Democratic Youth Federation of India workers were arrested in connection with the attack on Mr. Chandy.
The police said the MLAs were present among the protestors near the Police Club here who hurled stones and sticks at the Chief Minister's vehicle. Mr. Narayanan and Mr. Krishnan were among those against whom the police registered the case under IPC section 308. The police also registered cases against CPI(M) leaders P.K. Sreemathi, P. Jayarajan and M.V. Jayarajan and scores of other Left Democratic Front (LDF) workers.
CPI(M) workers led by party leaders P. Jayarajan and M.V. Jayarajan marched to the Town Police Station here on Monday morning to protest against the arrest of 22 party workers. They were stopped by in front of the station. They alleged that UDF workers were behind the attack on the Chief Minister.
No incident of violence was reported in connection with the protest day announced by the district Congress to condemn the attack on the Chief Minister. Barring some isolated incidents, the district was peaceful. Four Congress workers were injured in a clash with local CPI(M) workers at Thillankery here on Sunday night. A CPI(M) workers was also injured.
